Fogarty research published in PLoS Medicine

Eighteen-day periods of mandatory school closures and other social distancing measures were associated with a 29 to 37 percent reduction in influenza transmission rates in Mexico during the 2009 pandemic. The research was carried out by scientists at the Fogarty International Center at the National Institutes of Health and published in PLoS Medicine.

The social distancing measures implemented by the Mexican health authorities in spring 2009 were effective in reducing disease transmission by more than one-third, the study found. Social distancing interventions can be implemented during unusual infectious diseases outbreaks and include school closing, closure of movie theaters and restaurants, and the cancellation of large public gatherings. Mexico implemented a nationwide mandatory school closure policy during an 18-day period in late April and early May 2011. The United States implemented school closure interventions on a local basis during the 2009 pandemic, but the impact of these interventions has yet to be evaluated.

The study was led by Gerardo Chowell, Ph.D., a Fogarty investigator and faculty member at Arizona State University, Tempe. His team provides the first comprehensive epidemiological description of the age, geographical and severity patterns of the 2009 pandemic in Mexico.

The authors applied mathematical modeling to influenza surveillance data compiled by a large private health system, the Mexican Institute for Social Security, which covers 40 percent of the population.

A three-wave pandemic profile was identified throughout Mexico. The initial wave occurred in spring 2009 in the Mexico City area. A second wave was noted in summer 2009 in the southeastern region. Finally, a third wave occurred in fall 2009. The onset of the third pandemic wave in fall 2009 occurred within two to five weeks of the beginning of the fall school term, coinciding with increased disease incidence among school-age children.

The hardest hit were the very young, not the elderly who are typically at high risk with influenza. There were a few cases reported among seniors during the pandemic period, but the most severe influenza-related infections were seen in those 5 to 14 years old, as well as in infants.

Overall, the researchers’ findings highlight variation in pandemic influenza incidence and severity among age groups, and reveal the importance of school cycles on the transmission dynamics of this disease. The importance of school—children for pandemic influenza transmission is based on the findings that school closure effectively reduced influenza transmission in spring 2009 in Mexico, together with a large increase in influenza cases among school children coinciding with schools reopening.

The study suggests that school closure and other measures could be useful to mitigate future influenza pandemics.

“We believe this study has implications for improving preparedness plans in future pandemics,” said Chowell. Noting that, in a previous influenza pandemic in the 19th century, the majority of deaths occurred two years after the initial wave, he emphasized that “we must remain vigilant and continue to monitor the circulation and health burden of the pandemic A/H1N1 and co-circulating influenza viruses in the coming years.”

Most people have symptoms for about one to two weeks and again no problem. But with most other viral respiratory infections such as colds, influenza (flu), the infection can be compared to a serious illness, death rate (death rate) from 0.1% of the virus that causes an infection.

Influenza is transmitted when an infected person sneezes or coughs in the public places, like market, shoping mall, bus, trains etc.The particles pass through the air, where they infect, with whom they come into contact. If an infected person uses a phone, the infection can be transmitted to the next person who uses the phone. Since the infected person may not know has the flu, can touch many objects do not have to notice the spread of the virus to others.

Infected persons may be prudent not to transmit the virus to others. Besides covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, washing hands often and make every effort to avoid contact with others. Suffering from the flu is asked to stay home from work or school. Even the most popular employers will have more of an infected person stay at home as the starting point of the epidemic in the workplace. Someone outside the house is only called a series of catastrophic events. Many people may be infected when an infected person riding a crowded subway or go to the cinema.

Types of influenza virus

The classification of viruses of influenza viruses are RNA viruses. Influenza viruses can make up three of the five genera in the family Orthomyxoviridae:

1. Influenza virus type A

2. Influenza virus type B

3. Influenza virus type C

These distance that humans are related the viral RNA paramyxovirus family that a common cause of respiratory infections in children, such as laryngitis, but can also cause an illness similar to influenza among adults.

Signs and symptoms

Symptoms of influenza may begin suddenly one or two days after infection. The first symptoms are chills or a cold sensation, but fever is also common in the early stages of infection, the body temperature of 38-39 degree centigrade (about 100-103 F). Many people are so sick is confined to bed for several days with pain in his body, which is even worse in the back and legs. Symptoms of flu include:

* Fever and extreme coldness (chills shivering, shaking (rigor))

* Nasal congestion

* Fatigue

* In children, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain, (may be severe in children with influenza B)

* Irritated, watering eyes

* Cough

* Body aches, especially joints and throat

* Headache

* Reddened eyes, skin (especially face), mouth, throat and nose

What is the new influenza A (H1N1)?

There is a new influenza virus, which is called A (H1N1) that has never before spread among human being .The virus is not about the past or current influenza viruses involving human.

Why are we so worried about this flu when hundreds of thousands die every year from seasonal epidemics?

Seasonal flu happens every year and the virus changes every year – but many people have some immunity to help the infection of the virus circulating in the limit

However, influenza A (H1N1) is a new virus and that most people have little or no immunity and the virus can cause infections is more than seasonal influenza. WHO works closely with manufacturers to develop a safe and effective vaccine to accelerate, but there are still a few months before it is available.

With influenza A (H1N1) seems just as contagious as seasonal flu and spread rapidly, especially among young people (between 10 and 45).

Everyone knows that your immune plays a vital role in keeping your healthy from fighting disease, bacteria, viruses, and other illnesses. There are simple ways to boost your immune system without pricey prescriptions or treatment. Here are some ways to get a kick start on bettering your body.

Stress is an immense factor that can affect your immune system. So find something that helps you eliminate your stress for instance; find a hobby, read a book, take a long bath, go for a run, go out with family and friends, play with your pets, and anything else you enjoy doing.

No more coffee. Coffee is not good for anything especially for your immune system. Coffee robs your body of minerals and vitamins (that help support your immune system) and on top of that it dehydrates you. If you say you can’t stop drinking coffee just cancel the coffee out with drinking just as much water with it (but also your daily water intake too).

Invest in a Juice Machine. Why? Because it a great way to get way to get your vitamins and minerals. Put whole carrots, apples, oranges, bananas, and other fruits in the machine and you’ll get all the nutrients from the fruit that will help support the immune system. Also put vegetables in there too there just as good for you.

Get adequate sleep. Every ones body is different, your body need anywhere form 6 to 10 hours of sleep each night. Sleeping helps balance your hormone levels, which helps your mood, gives you healthy skin, makes your more vibrant, helps control your weight, and makes your feel better overall.

Take sugar out of your diet. Once you do this you will see increase energy levels, immunity and your ability to think clearly when trying to lose weight your craving will go down. Also by cutting sugar out of your diet you be helping your immune system too.

Drink lemons! Lemons are great for restoring acid-alkali balance. Squeezing it into your water, into your teas, into your salads and other of your favorite dishes, will help your body maintain its internal ph which supports healthy bacteria instead of the bad bacteria (like flu viruses, and colds)

Get outside. The air is a lot better to breathe in then your house where people could be spreading germs. It’s also good for you to get outside, because when your outside you tend to more around a lot more and get more exercise then you would by sitting in your house watching TV and snaking.

Get your vitamin, these vitamins have shown to work to boost your immune system; Selenium, Vitamin A, B2, B6, C, D, E, and Zinc. Also pure coriolis vericolor mushroom extract. You can find this in Supreme Immune Booster by Bell. This Supplement helps prevent many common illness also cancer and heart disease. It work by increasing your immunity to grems, viruses, and carcinogens found in your food, water, and air. And the best part about it is that it’s ALL natural!

Influenza (flu) is a viral infection and is caused by influenza viruses A and B.

The flu spreads very easily from person to person. You can get it from people who cough, sneeze or talk near you. Preventing it’s spread was impossible in previous years, but these days we have many things to combat the illness. Flu shots are the main weapon, but information and communication are equally effective in reducing the flu’s wrath.

Some people, such as older adults, young children, and people with specific health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications. In extreme cases, complications can lead to death.

The common symptoms of the flu include high fever, body aches, dry cough, extreme tiredness, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Runny nose may also occur but is more common in children than adults. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea.

If you have one or two of these symptoms, it’s recommended that you see your doctor.

More information about flu diagnosis is available at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/diagnosis/

The key steps that you can follow include:

1. Get plenty of sunshine or supplemental vitamin D3

2. Wash your hands regularly often with soap and water.

3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way. Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

4. Don’t skip any meals. Eating 3 meals with snacks in between is the ideal way to maintain both energy and a healthy weight. When you skip meals and get hungry, you’re more than likely to choose foods that aren’t very good for you.

If you are eating away from home, take food with you or know where you can buy healthy food from.

5. Learn about how to prepare foods. Instead of deep frying, try grilling, stir frying, microwaving, baking, and even boiling. You should also try fresh or even dried herbs and spices to add flavor to your food. Before you eat any type of meat, be sure to trim the fat and skin off of it.

6. Avoid a lot of sugar, Drinks that contain sugar are a major source of empty energy. What this means, is that the drinks contain a lot of energy that your body may not need, and it doesn’t contain any vitamins or minerals. If you plan to drink sugary drinks, don’t go overboard – limit yourself to 1 a day.

7. Avoid thinking about diets There are no good food nor any bad foods. All food can be a part of a healthy diet, when eaten in moderation. You don’t need to buy any low carb, fat free, or even diet foods, as these foods normally have lots of other added ingredients to replaces the carbohydrates or fat.

8. Perform aerobic exercise a minimum of 30 minutes three times a week. Log this on your food diary. Aerobic means any exercise that increases your breathing and heart rate. Walking is fine! Do only what you can to begin with. If you have other health problems, consult your doctor before embarking on any strong physical exercise.

9. Eat fruit at least twice a day.

10. A calm atmosphere should be maintained for a good sleep.

11. Young children are also at high risk of serious complications. If the baby shows some signs of distress like excessive crying,convulsions,fever with rigor,stiffness of neck,frequent vomiting and diarrhoea, bluish discolouration of the body,difficult breathing with grunting, etc. pay attention and consult your doctor.

12. Guzzle up on green tea. It can be used as a substitute for coffee. Tea has the ability to stimulate metabolism, and unlike coffee, it has no undesirable side effects when too much is consumed.

13. Use your imagination to relieve daily stress. After a long stressful day at work and then managing all the errands at home, it makes sleeping almost impossible. Find a quiet dark room or area where you can be alone and light some candles. Let you imagination take you off to an island somewhere, be creative and listen to the trees move or imagine you see butterflies. Allow your guided imagination to take you on a road trip where peace rests at the end of the journey.

14. The infected person should avoid contact with other people. Their saliva and mucus are rampant with the virus and coughing and sneezing are definite ways that the virus could spread. Healthy people should avoid contact with an infected person as well.

15. Preparedness is the best defense against the coming flu season. One definite step toward preventing the disease is to get an annual flu shot. There are two forms of flu vaccine. The first being the common flu shot, usually administered by a shot in the arm. The second is a nasal spray form that is misted into the nasal cavity. Which you choose to have administered is up to you, but it is becoming more evident that getting a flu vaccination is vital to your health during this season. Vaccination also can aide in preventing the spread of the flu as less people will contract and spread it. Today, however, there are vaccines that will greatly reduce, if not completely eliminate your chances of contracting influenza.

Managing our health from day to day is something we all have to learn. While we have to learn to manage stress, keep in mind that we cannot terminate stress forever. You need to learn to thrive on stress and stay in control on a daily basis.

A person needs to realize that eating right and working out is not just a passing fancy, but a way of life.

Taking this course of action will reduce your risk of getting the flu and make it’s spread lessen.

Finally, you have to learn to make goals that influence good health, but you will also need to se goals that will help you to feel better about yourself.

There has been great concern lately over the “Swine Flu” vaccine because of what happened in the 70’s. Thousands of people we’re seriously hurt because of the side effects of the said vaccine. So it makes sense that people are naturally skeptical of the World Government telling us that it’s safe this time. But get this reports are coming out saying that CDC has casted a order to no longer test for actual “Swine Flu”.

This happened back in Summer. So everyone is wondering really what is Squalene Adjuvants and do we really need them in the vaccine or better question to ask is, do we even need the vaccine? Being that a report has shown that only 2% of actual cases are Swine Flu related. So whats all this about really? Huge marketing campaign and political pressure upon Media sources to keep the epidemic rolling.

Did you know that so far %70 of people are not going to take the Vaccine? What does this mean? It means people are actually started to question the Governments authority in which we the people give them. We should not have to quit our jobs just not to get injected with potentially dangerious chemicals such as Thermasol (Mercury additive which has been proven to be dangerious to all existing life) and now Squalene Adjuvant which is an oil from sharks.

I don’t know about you but from the research I’ve I’d say that the Swine Flu and the Vaccine are bunk! Find out what I mean by doing your research! The only way to keep an informed public is by becoming informed yourself. Change only needs to start with one person, you can be that person that helps others choose informatively and help potentially save lives as well as peoples right to making a family and having children.

After taking the vaccine, you may not notice too much change. But your inners will know and you might find out that you can no longer bear children after this vaccine. Main stream media has also done a research study on the Swine Flu with the same results, low infection rate and dangers of the vaccine.

But guess what? It was buried and this report was on CBS. Did you see it? So what kind of cover up is really happening here, and at the same time why is it that their is FEMA camps being setup everywhere that are empty, fully staffed and waiting? Doesn’t this kind of remind you of Nazi Germany? But instead of Jews everyone is having a shot taken at them, the future of mankind is actually in your hands right now at this very moment.

Shall you proceed to understand this vaccine and the dangerious chemicals inside them or will you continue to act as if all these explosively infectious disease just pop out just because. Something you may not know is that the H1N1 flu was man made.

Does that not concern you? Read between the lines and stay safe during this winter. Get to love the word “NO” and use it often in these cases of mass manipulation.
