<p>As somebody who has been involved in diet, fitness and health for over 30 years it just amazes me the fat burning myths and misinformation that exists. The internet is a great place and there is some very good info out there but then there is also the ****. And don&#8217;t get me going on the fat burning exercise gadgets or the miracle diets.</p>
<p>Have you invested in and using a particular fat burning exercise program or maybe the latest hollywood starlets miracle diet? Is it working for you? Well I will say probably not because your here reading this.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at 5 of the biggest fat burning myths that are very popular among those trying to lose weight.</p>
<p>Myth #1: Doing Isolation Exercises</p>
<p>Doing isolation exercises such as bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, leg extensions etc. are NOT fat burning exercises I don&#8217;t care what your personall trainer or your fitness mag says.</p>
<p>You want to burn off your body fat start doing squats, deadlifts, rows, pullups etc. Spot reduction is the greatest fat burning myth there is. Only by working the total body will you get rid of you love handles, saggy arm fat and thunder thighs.</p>
<p>Myth #2: You Must Workout In The Fat Burning Zone</p>
<p>Perhaps you have seen gym equipment with a fat burning zone setting, and you have tried it for yourself as the name is enticing and sounds effective. But the truth is the fat burning zone, which says that you burn more fats doing extended cardio at a slow pace compared to a fast paced one, is actually a myth. It all boils down to your total caloric expenditure each time you do a cardio routine. So, for instance, a 90-minute light cardio can just about yield the same amount of fats burned as a 30-minute intense cardio.</p>
<p>Myth #3: I&#8217;m Working Up A Sweat So I&#8217;m Burning Ton&#8217;s of Fat</p>
<p>This is another real beauty. Sweating on it&#8217;s own doeasn&#8217;t mean you are burning fat. If you are doing your fat burning exercises in a hot area or you are wearing rubberized workout attire, chances are you will definitely sweat a lot, regardless of the intensity of your workout. If you are working out in a cold area and you are barely sweating, it doesn&#8217;t mean that you are doing it ineffectively. <p>Another good one contrary to popular belief muscles do not turn to fat. Start living a sedentary and eating an unhealthy diet and yes you&#8217;ll get fat. Muscles shrink when you don&#8217;t use them. Now, in the process, you will not be able to effectively burn excess calories as before, so chances are they will be stored as fats. The increase in the amount of fats in your body is due to all the excessive sweets and grease you consume, and not because your muscles turned into them.</p>
<p>Myth #5: Ice Cold Water Burns Fat</p>
<p>Your body uses up calories to maintain its normal and desirable temperature. While there is some truth to the idea that drinking ice-cold water will somewhat increase your metabolism as the body regains normal temperature, however, it will not melt away your fats.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you want to lose belly fat, then you want to adopt a fat loss cardio routine into your exercise program. Weight training, kettlebell exercises, bodyweight workouts should all be part of your fat burning workouts.</p>
<p>You can&#8217;t just do a thousand sit ups or crunches and expect to lose stomach fat. Spot reduction is one of the great myths of fat loss, using light weights and doing countless ab specific exercises will not burn off your belly fat like many people would have you believe.</p>
<p>A good cardio routine will help burn calories all over. If it takes 3,500 calories to burn one pound, then you can try cutting back on about 500 calories of food consumption and doing a form of fat burning exercises that burns another 500 calories a day.</p>
<p>Here is a good circuit training fat burning workout to lose your stomach fat.</p>
<p>1a) Deadlifts<br />
<br />1b) Push-ups</p>
<p>2a) Clean And Press<br />
<br />2b) Mountain Climbers</p>
<p>Set a timer for 10 &#8211; 20 minutes (the time you chose is based on your conditioning level). Pick a weight (for the weight training exercises that you can do for 10 reps), start with exercise 1A do 5 reps, without resting (or as little rest as you need) do 5 reps of exercise 2b. Keep going back and forth this way till your time is up. Rest for 3-5 minutes do your other 2 exercises.</p>
<p>In a little over a week, you will have burned a pound &#8211; which is a safe amount of weight to lose per week.</p>
<p>Cardio attacks the fat cells right where they live &#8211; and you will soon see the effect in how your clothes fit. If that belly fat you are carrying bothers you, then just get moving!</p>
<p>When belly fat is the big problem in your life, it&#8217;s crucial that you begin as soon as possible to get it off. Belly fat hinders the functionality of many of your organs &#8211; it&#8217;s the most dangerous type of weight gain you can have. Not only being ugly to look at many studies have shown the health risks of having too much stomach fat.</p>
<p>Make sure you flush your system by drinking lots of water. If you drink a minimum of eight glasses of water per day, you will stay hydrated and help the body do its work that much more efficiently. Eat a clean diet stay away from processed foods, spread out your meals (5-6) throughout the day. You&#8217;ll experience fat loss (specifically the loss of belly fat) and enjoy a more energetic lifestyle, too!</p>
<p>Now I have only just touched on the subject of healthy eating here. Make no mistake all the fat burning exercises and workouts in the world will not get rid of your belly fat without a diet of eating healthy. Doing extra workouts while continuing to eat all the processed junk food that is all too prevalent today will not help you lose belly fat.</p>
<p>When we talk about stomach fat we are not just talking about looks here. There are very serious health issues that go along with too much stomach fat. We too often get hung up on how it looks, but what we don&#8217;t think enough about is how having too much fat affects our overall health. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the main ways to lower cholesterol is to lose weight, and this one action is sometimes enough to get your cholesterol levels back in line. The challenge, however, is that many of us have tried numerous times to get our weight under control but with little success. Maybe we followed a diet for a while and the weight came off temporarily, but in a few months or a couple of years we find ourselves even heavier than when we started the diet in the first place so we go back on some type of diet or another again. We may even add more exercise into the mix, but we are still not successful, and we become frustrated.</p>
<p>Why does our body hold onto its weight when we are eating less and exercising more? One reason may have to do with the fact that when calories are restricted too much, the body thinks it is starving. When the body thinks it is starving, the metabolism shuts down to conserve fat so that you can survive. Many people end up eating 1,500 calories or fewer on an average day when they are trying to lose weight. This level of calorie intake may be low enough to slow your metabolism and put your body into starvation mode. In addition, the added exercise means the body needs more calories to maintain proper function not fewer. The body&#8217;s response to the increase in exercise when you are eating too little is to hold on to its fat stores even more than before.</p>
<p>Another factor that may be at play in people&#8217;s struggles to lose weight is the type of calories they are ingesting. Not all calories are created equal. It is not necessarily true that all we have to do is count calories and make sure we don&#8217;t consume too many if we want to meet our weight loss goals. For instance, foods that quickly spike blood glucose levels like sugar, high fructose corn syrup, juice, refined flours, baked white potatoes, chips, and white rice will cause more insulin to be released at a faster rate than foods that do not quickly spike blood glucose levels like temperate fruits, vegetables, whole cooked grains, beans, fish, and meat. Insulin signals the body to store fat. To help with weight loss, you want your blood sugar levels to remain as stable as possible.</p>
<p>Finally, eating less fat does not necessarily correlate to losing weight even though fat contains a lot of calories. In fact, there is growing amounts of research that suggest just the opposite. Incorporating enough fat into the daily diet can actually helps a person feel satisfied which can lead to eating fewer calories later in the day. In addition, some research is indicating that low carbohydrate diets not low fat diets are more likely to result in weight loss. It is interesting to note that over the past several decades, fat consumption in the United States has decreased; however, obesity levels have increased. Fat is simply not to blame. What is important is to eat healthy fats. Unrefined, extra virgin olive oil is one such healthy fat. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish are also considered good fats.</p>
<p>In summary, if you want to lose weight, do not cut your average daily calorie intake too low, eat whole foods that don&#8217;t spike blood glucose levels too quickly, and eat healthy fats. Once you are eating enough calories to support your every day functions, get exercise on most days of the week.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the world we&#8217;re living in today we&#8217;re more stressed than ever before. Driving around town you&#8217;ll see people yelling and cursing at other people in their cars just because somebody is driving a little too slow.</p>
<p>Relationships and kids are driving the parents crazy as well as everybody around them. People are stuck at jobs for 40 hours a week that they hate with people they hate. If we don&#8217;t start to reduce or stress and cortisol levels then we will continue to put on fat as our bodies go into adrenal fatigue.</p>
<p>Stress can be found in other less known places such as in overtraining, pollution, climate and bad nutrition. As our bodies become stressed our adrenal glands which sit on the top of our kidneys release a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol is the fight or flight hormone that quickly allows us to stay on the top of our game in case of nearby danger.</p>
<p>Unfortunately we don&#8217;t have much of a threat around us as our ancient ancestors once did and as our adrenal glands keep shooting out cortisol they&#8217;ll eventually become more and more fatigued and will put our bodies in a hormonal chaos. Some of the effects of adrenal fatigue from stress include insomnia, weight gain and decreased sex drive. But all hope is not lost, here are some things you can do to turn the page on your stress.</p>
<p>1. Get your nutrition under control quickly. Nobody can expect their body to be healthy when they&#8217;re feeding it garbage or the stuff they&#8217;re not supposed to be eating. Find out your metabolic typing diet and start eating healthier to ensure your body is receiving the proper fuel to live strong.</p>
<p>2. Start exercising more. This may sound obvious but there are some keys to success with this one especially if you are really stressed out and are in adrenal fatigue. Start by going for walks either by yourself or with your dog and don&#8217;t start up some crazy hard exercise program. This will only make things worse as your body is already in a state of disrepair, start slow and then gradually build up the intensity.</p>
<p>3. Reduce stress. I know this one sounds a lot harder than what it really is but if you decide to start taking time for yourself then you&#8217;ll find your stress levels will go down dramatically. Start doing some daily meditations, do some yoga and/or tai chi and try taking a quick power nap in the afternoon. You don&#8217;t have to fall asleep for an hour for the nap but just taking a quick 15-minute time out in your car with your eyes close and no noise can do wonders.</p>
<p>4. Get enough rest and recovery. This means going to bed at a decent hour like 10:00pm or 10:30pm and not midnight or later. This is because our bodies start the recovery process around 10:00pm and if we don&#8217;t go to bed until later our bodies won&#8217;t go through the proper rest and recovery process that it&#8217;s designed to do. Even if you get 8 hours of sleep by going to bed at 2:00am and waking up at 10:00am your body is still thrown off and you&#8217;ll still be tired the next day.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is very easy to load on the pounds, but it takes a great deal more work to work them off again. Most of us do not become overjoyed at the idea of spending hours running on a treadmill or lifting weights. You know it is good for you and it will make you feel better, but it is more interesting to sit on the sofa and watch Seinfeld reruns.</p>
<p>The best advice though as far as weight loss goes is that the best technique for losing the pounds is not running miles and miles or bench pressing 200 pounds times infinity repetitions; it is doing some kind of activity that you really enjoy. Life is too short to be spent miserable.</p>
<p>The secret to weight loss is doing an activity that makes you work out, but that you really love, at least three times a week. If you can come up with a few active things that you like to do, then that is even better as you will be able to keep the variety going and keep yourself motivated.</p>
<p>If you are someone that likes to be social and spend time with others, then you should try and convince a friend or a group of friends to start doing some kind of exercise with you. When you work out with others you enjoy the experience a whole lot more, you are more likely to stick with it out of a sense of duty and you will work harder through an innate sense of competitiveness or not wanting to let the other down. Joining some kind of team or putting one together yourself can also be a great physical work out and social event wrapped into one.</p>
<p>If you like to get outside in the fresh air, then make sure that you center your activities around outside sports such as jogging, cycling, hiking, swimming, walking along the beach. A shot of sunshine will give you more energy too from the increased vitamin D levels.</p>
<p>If you have a few kids, then you should try to get down to the park with them a few times a week to play. This is not only a chance to burn off some calories chasing them around, but an important time to bond with them as well as setting a good example to them with exercise.</p>
<p>If you focus on filling your workout schedule with things that you actually really enjoy doing, you are going to see the benefit of all the hard work sooner because you will be motivated to stick with it and do it longer and more often.</p>
<p>Besides the numerous physical benefits and weight loss that will come from exercising regularly, you will also experience a number of emotional benefits too. When you exercise it is a stress reliever, but being with your friends more and doing things that you enjoy is very liberating and can reduce the levels of depression that people experience. So get out your notepad and start brainstorming the kind of things you like to do or would like to try.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is so easy to put on weight, before you know it you could have piled on a few extra pounds and wonder how it got there. Most of us could do with losing a couple of pounds to look better and feel healthier, but it can be hard to motivate yourself to get started on a weight loss program. It can be hard to get yourself excited about eating carrots and spending hours running on a treadmill.</p>
<p>The truth is that the best exercise program is not about cutting back on all the foods that you like and enjoy. It is not about doing endless squats and getting up at 5am to go for a 5 mile jog. The best weight loss and exercise program involves you doing something active that you really enjoy.</p>
<p>The secret to getting the body that you want is to find an activity that you love and then to do it at least three times a week. It is even better if you can find a variety of exercises that you really enjoy to keep the exercise routine varied as well as working different muscles through the different activities.</p>
<p>You can add to the interest levels if you are the social type by doing some kind of exercise with your friends. Finding a friend or friends to exercise with is great because it makes the workout session more fun as well as making you more committed. If you have made an arrangement to exercise with someone, then you are less likely to cancel it. With your friends you may be able to get a team together to either enter a league in your area or to play casual games. Volleyball, basketball, football, baseball, softball and so on are all fun team sports that you can enjoy together.</p>
<p>If you are an outdoors type of person, then you should do some exercise that involves getting out into the fresh air &#8211; hiking, trail riding, horse riding, jogging, walking along the beach and so on are great exercise and you will also boost your vitamin D levels too.</p>
<p>If you have children, then take the opportunity to take them down to the park and do some running around with them. Kids are energy powerhouses and spending half an hour at the park playing tag, jump rope or other games is a fabulous way to both burn off the fat as well as spending quality time bonding with your children.</p>
<p>By doing activities that you really have fun with you will get far, far better results than you would see from forcing yourself to do things that you loathe. You are much more likely to stick with your exercise routine as well as doing it for longer.</p>
<p>Besides the physical benefits of doing exercise that you like, you will also have better emotional health. You will be less stressed and more connected to the people around you at the same time as executing your weight loss plan &#8211; now doesn&#8217;t that sound better than slogging it out on a bench press?</p>

INSANITY chewed me up and spat me out a broken shell of a man.&#8221; Oh, come on. Anybody can do INSANITY, and I&#8217;m going to tell you how. It&#8217;s true, fine, I&#8217;ll concede that if you do INSANITY in the manner that Shaun T expects, you&#8217;ll probably look like road kill by the end of the workout. But who says you have to do it that way? Here&#8217;s how to get through the sixty days of INSANITY without even breaking a sweat.</p>
<p>The key lies in gaming the Fit Test. Most people will foolishly throw themselves into this, trying as hard as they can to pump out as many Globe Jumps, Suicide Jacks, whatever. They&#8217;ll give themselves a heart attack, and then dutifully write their numbers down. Then, two weeks later when it comes to performing it again, they&#8217;ll see that their numbers haven&#8217;t gone up that much, or not as much as they hoped, and be crushed. Ha! Amateurs. The trick is to underperform on the first Fit Test. Cruise through it. Do a couple here, a couple there, and then if you did only 10% of the Brain Exploderators or whatever by the end of the minute, don&#8217;t worry. Because in two weeks time, it&#8217;ll be easy to more than double your results.</p>
<p>Second, during the actual workouts, listen to Shaun T. He actually tells you to take water breaks during the exercises, not only when it&#8217;s officially time. Sure most people hang in there, gasping and flopping about like fish out of water waiting for the official water break to come, but you can&#8217;t be blamed if you take Shaun T&#8217;s every suggestion to take a water break to heart? It&#8217;s the center of your body, what your legs and arms use to anchor their strength, what gives you balance, solidity, strength and power. Plus it looks great-having a set of rippled abs showing when you pull off your shirt is always a plus, no matter where or why. Of course, you need to burn off your body fat to show them, but here are some killer ab workouts to get those washboard abs ready for the summer.</p>
<p><b>Plank Oblique&#8217;s</b></p>
<p>Get into plank position. That&#8217;s where you go into a push-up stance, and lower down onto your forearms. Even that right there is an excellent workout for your abs, holding plank for a minute will have you wobbling like a jellyfish, but we&#8217;re going to kick it up a notch. From plank, rotate your body slightly to the right, and then bring up your right knee and lower your right arm so that elbow and knee touch. Hold that and squeeze your core for three breaths, and then turn and do the same for the other side. Really crunch those abs so that you feel the burn, and do as many reps as you feel comfortable with.</p>
<p><b>Triangle Crucifix</b></p>
<p>Another brutal ab workout. Get into a push-up position once more, and then rotate all the way to the right, so that you&#8217;re supporting yourself on your straight left arm, and place one foot ontop of the other. Lift your hand straight up until its pointing at the ceiling, and hold for a beat. Feel that burn? From there, to take it to the next level, bring your right knee up and touch it to your right elbow again. Hold for three breaths, and then switch sides and do as may reps as you can. Brutal!</p>
<p><b>Killer Crunch</b></p>
<p>Lie on the floor as if ready to do a regular crunch, hands behind your head, knees up. Draw in your belly button, as if you were trying to push it to the floor, and then and crunch off the floor but pulling to your right, bringing you right knee closer and higher than your left, while simultaneously lowering your right elbow so that they touch. Repeat for the left side, and alternate moving from side to side. Again, hold each position for three breaths, and then alternate.</p>
<p>Remember, one of the key muscles in your core are the obliques, which are the long, lateral muscles that frame your six pack. People who just focus on their abs and don&#8217;t work the rest of their core muscles will often find themselves with unbalanced and weak cores-you need to work out all your core muscles! These three exercises will kill your obliques and test your core to the max. Try them three times a week, and see if you can notice steady gains as you work harder to hold them for longer. With effort, time and dedication, you&#8217;ll find yourself developing that hard, iron core you&#8217;ve been wanting!</p>
