Enhancing Thermogenesis and the Thyroid

Almost any individual who has undertaken serious dieting is acquainted with “thermogenic” products. Most such products are based upon the Chinese herb Ma Huang as a source of ephedra. However, there are other, safer ways of enhancing thermogenesis – try ECA STACK with EPHEDRA by American Weight Loss Group LLC.

How Thermogenic Compounds in ECA STACK Help with Weight Loss

Individuals prone to obesity often have lower basal metabolic rates (BMR) per pound than lean individuals, and obesity itself promotes a lowering of the BMR. After eating, most people see a lasting rise in energy production amounting to 10 to 20 percent of their prior metabolic rate. For reasons not well understood, overweight women in particular do not experience this increase in heat production.

Certain naturally occurring substances, such as ephedra extract, speed up the resting metabolic rate, act as stimulants, and suppress the appetite. Caffeine and Ephedra of the ECA STACK have similar effects, and can be found in coffee, kola nut, ephedra sinica, guarana, tea, and many other herb teas and foods. The seaweed known as bladder wrack activates the thyroid and has been used in Europe to treat obesity and hypothyroidism since the seventeenth century. Bladder wrack is less useful in the modern period now that table salt is routinely enriched with iodine.

Many of the substances listed in the section above on appetite suppressants also act to raise the metabolic rate. L-phenylala-nine and L-tyrosine perform this function by serving as precursors to the neurotransmitters and metabolic stimulants epinephrine and norepinephrine (produced especially in the adrenal glands). High-protein diets, which supply these amino acids, will tend to speed up bodily processes in general. Since thyroid activators often produce results similar to adrenal stimulants, the thyroid is also important. It is of great importance (see Chapters 2 and 6) to prevent the suppression of the action of hormones that release fat so that it can be burned for energy.

The bulk of popular thermogenic products are based on ephedrine and caffeine combinations, like ECA STACK with EPHEDRA by American Weight Loss Group LLC. This is because to get the most from ephedra extract, caffeine or some other compound that performs a similar role, such as aspirin, must be added. The primary benefit of ephedra extract based combinations is a reduction in appetite. For most individuals, 75 to 80 percent of the impact of taking an ECA pills with EPHEDRA will come from appetite suppression. It requires a low dosages of these ingredients to cause a significant increase in the number of calories burned per day. These calories are used to produce excess heat, hence the adjective “thermogenic.”

The downside, of course, is that ephedra extract and caffeine make many people nervous, can increase insomnia, can elevate blood pressure, may not be safe for diabetics, and for some can be just plain dangerous.

XENISTAT

Commercial sugar substitutes that provide the sweet flavor without the calories have been around for a long time. More recent additions are the “starch blockers” that target the calories from everyday foods. Similar items are available for fats. New products have now appeared that work specifically to reduce the absorption of fat or to replace the fats usually found in foods. The best-known product of this type probably is called XENISTAT that directly binds fats before they can be absorbed.
