8 Steps to Success in Life and Business

I became a victim of the current economic crisis but I learned the 8 steps to success and by following these steps I’m on my way to become successful again. Now finally you can become successful too, whatever you do or want to achieve by following these 8 steps.

At age 19 I already started my own traditional business. I worked as a design company for traditional hardcopy magazines. After a while I worked almost fulltime for one magazine and I focused on this because it paid well. But that was my mistake. The magazine was bought by a publisher with it’s own design department and I lost the contract. Because I had focused on this one client I did not have enough customers anymore and I had to search for other business opportunities.

It was in the early 90’s and my father had a little company as an insurance advisor. Although this was not my passion (I always hated this kind of work because to me it was very boring) I started my own little advisory and we worked together serving the same clients with different financial products. I started selling mortgages and this became successful very quick. Our client database grew and grew and also the number of people working for us. The market was booming and we became a multimillion dollar company, one of the biggest advisory agencies in our country with multiple offices. I became very successful at young age and earned a lot of money.

But after the internetcrash and 9/11 the market began changing. New regulations and regulators, higher costs, less income, more competition etc. We managed to cope with this but when the current economic crisis began the market collapsed for us. Also we became victim of fraud by two of our business partners. We already had cut our costs and helped our workforce find jobs at other companies but we still had big real estate loans etc. so forced by the banks we had to sell everything but for low prices because of the market and finally we lost it all and have big debt positions now.

What do you do when this happens? I’m sure there a lot of people in the world right now experiencing the same kind of situation. At first I lost all of my energy and motivation to go on. I felt like a looser, I felt quilt for my family, wife and kids who have to experience a very difficult time. I had employed more than 150 and now I had to start from scratch again with nothing in my pocket and a large debt position.

After a little while and talking a lot with my wife I came to the conclusion I had to move on. You can’t stop. Life is going on I had to go on too. I started searching for a job but nobody wants to hire a former entrepreneur in these times. Finally I found a company where I could start working, selling contracts for a big energy company and working as door to door, cold seller. I had to go out by myself and go to companies without appointments trying to sell the product in a very competitive market. I only got paid for the contracts sold so when I had no sales on some days I had no income. Was this possible? Were people in for this kind of selling in the current markets?

Then I learned about the 8 steps to success. My local manager was teaching me that with these steps I would become successful in selling the product but also with all other things in life. I was very skeptical after what I have experienced but I started and tried to use the 8 steps. And it worked… I became a topseller quickly. Offcourse with some ups and downs but that was always from my own problems. After a while the 8 steps became part of my daily life and now I’m using these 8 steps in a different way to become even more successful again and create a great life.
